How to Set Your Weekly Availability and Block Time Off

Your availability decides when customers can book you. Banana Cards uses three tools for this: weekly hours for your regular schedule, date overrides for days that are different, and blocked time for one-off breaks like lunch, travel or vacation.

Important: until you save your availability, customers can't book any service you're assigned to.

Set your weekly hours

  1. Open Bookings from the main menu.
  2. Click Availability (or Set my availability if you haven't set it yet) to open My Availability.
  3. Check Your timezone — your weekly hours are interpreted in this timezone.
  4. Choose Use Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:00 for a quick start, or Start from scratch.
  5. Under Weekly hours, switch each day on or off and adjust the time range. Use Add another range for split days, e.g. 09:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00.
  6. Click Save.

Nothing is saved until you click Save — if you close the window with unsaved changes, Banana Cards will ask whether to discard them. Your availability is automatically used by every service you're attached to, so you only set it once.

Add date overrides

Use a date override when a specific day doesn't follow your normal week — a public holiday, a late shift, or a Saturday event.

  1. In My Availability, scroll to Date overrides and click Add override.
  2. Pick a date.
  3. Under What's happening this day? choose:
    • Unavailable — mark the whole day off, or
    • Different hours — available, but at custom times you set.
  4. Click Save override, then Save.

Overrides replace your weekly hours for that date only.

Block time off

Blocked time is best for a specific window rather than a whole pattern — a dentist appointment, lunch, a trip spanning several days.

  1. In Bookings (or from a day in your dashboard calendar), click Block time.
  2. Enter a Label, e.g. "Vacation", "Lunch" or "Out of office".
  3. Set the Start date, Start time, End date and End time. The end must be after the start.
  4. Click Block time.

The block shows on your calendar with its label and duration, and nobody can book you during it. To remove it, open the block from the calendar and delete it.

Which one should I use?

Situation Use
Your normal working week Weekly hours
A single day with different or no hours Date override
A specific window, or several days in a row Block time
Meetings already in Google Calendar Sync Google Calendar — busy events block slots automatically

Team availability

Each team member sets their own availability. When a service has several assignees, customers see the times when the assigned people are free. If a teammate hasn't set their availability, the service editor shows a No availability warning next to their name.

Troubleshooting

  • "No availability set — customers can't book you": open My Availability, add hours and click Save.
  • Slots appear at the wrong time: confirm the timezone in My Availability and under Language & timezone in account settings.
  • A day still shows slots after blocking it: make sure the block covers the full range and is assigned to you, not left unassigned.
