Create Reusable Contract Templates for Efficiency

Creating reusable contract templates is essential for standardizing business agreements, saving valuable drafting time, and ensuring consistency across all your legal documents. By utilizing dynamic fields, you can generate perfectly tailored agreements for your clients in mere seconds.

1. Access the Template Manager

Begin by navigating to the Contracts section, typically found on your main dashboard. From there, locate and click the Create template button, usually situated in the top-right corner, to open the Template Editor.

2. Drafting Your Template

The Template Editor provides a flexible environment for crafting your legal documents:

  • Input Legal Text: You can directly type your contract language into the editor or paste existing text.
  • Insert Dynamic Placeholders: To make your template reusable, replace specific client or project details with dynamic fields. Use clear identifiers like {{CLIENT_NAME}}, {{PROJECT_COST}}, or {{START_DATE}}.
  • Format for Professionalism: Employ the built-in toolbar to apply formatting such as headers, bullet points, and bold text to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Add Signature Blocks: Crucially, ensure you include the necessary Signature Block at the end of your template. This signals to the system where all parties are required to sign.

3. Saving and Organizing Your Template

Once your draft is complete, click Save template.

  • Naming: Provide a clear and descriptive name (e.g., "Service Agreement - Standard Terms") to facilitate easy identification and retrieval later.
  • Organization: Optionally, assign tags or categories to your template. This helps maintain an organized library as you create more document types.

4. Generating a Contract from a Template

When you need to create a new contract based on a saved template:

  1. Navigate to your Templates list.
  2. Click Use template next to the desired document.
  3. A Fill Form window will appear, prompting you to enter values for all the dynamic placeholders you previously defined (e.g., {{CLIENT_NAME}}).
  4. Once the form is populated, the system automatically inserts these details into the appropriate locations within the contract.
  5. Review the generated document thoroughly.
  6. Click Send for signature to begin the electronic signing process.

Pro Tip: Global Placeholders

If you frequently use the same information across multiple contracts (such as your company's legal address or tax identification number), consider creating Global Placeholders. These fields will automatically populate every time you generate a new contract, significantly streamlining your workflow even further.
