Virtual vs Physical Business Cards

Banana has two kinds of business cards. Both open the same digital profile, and both are edited the same way.

Virtual cards

A virtual card is a digital business card, and no physical card is needed.

  • Create one with New Card on the Cards page.
  • Share it with a link, a QR code, or Apple or Google Wallet.
  • It is ready right away.

Physical NFC cards

A physical card is a real card with an NFC chip. When someone taps it with their phone, your digital card opens.

  • Order the card, then select Activate NFC card on the Cards page to link it to your account.
  • Each physical card has a Card ID printed on it or shown during activation.
  • After activation, you design it just like a virtual card.

Find your cards

On the Cards page, switch between Virtual Cards and NFC Cards. You can search your cards and sort them by newest, oldest or name.

Which should I use?

  • Virtual: online sharing, email signatures, and teams that need cards fast.
  • Physical: meeting people in person, at events or in meetings. You tap once and your details are shared.

Many people use both: a physical card in their wallet and the same profile shared online.
